Smith and Sons Surveyor, Tom Carew, has taken yet another step up the educational property ladder, securing an MSc in Real Estate and Property Management.

Carried out as part of a Salford University higher education course, Smith and Sons has supported Tom on his academic journey since he began the course in 2016.

The syllabus focuses on valuations, building and construction, planning and landlord and tenant rights all important elements within Tom’s role as part of the commercial sales and lettings team.

Tom commented: “I’m, of course, incredibly pleased to have successfully completed my MSc. The course content has been directly related to my role within Smith and Sons and will undoubtedly help me moving forward as I develop my career, experiences and responsibilities within the company.

“Smith and Sons has supported me during the past two years which has included a day a week day release which is fantastic. They’ve also given me practical and hands on advice and input through discussions across the course duration.”

Tom added: “Gaining this MsC will allow me to become chartered in the future and gives me a broader understanding of the property market in areas which I might have not been directly involved in such as planning.”

Chris Johnson, Managing Partner of Smith and Sons said: “We’re very proud of Tom’s achievements. He’s worked hard to ensure he successfully completed the course and we’re pleased to have been able to support him through advice and support as well as in a practical nature.”
