SMITH AND SONS SUPPORTS WIRRAL'S OPEN DOOR CHARITY WITH DONATION
Wirral property consultants, Smith and Sons, has donated £5,000 to Wirral’s Open Door Charity.
The Birkenhead-based charity focuses on younger people affected by poor mental health, and follows a peer-mentorship model, with volunteers offering 1-1 support based on lived experience and a real understanding of the challenges faced in today’s society.
Smith and Sons, a brand that is synonymous with Wirral business and enterprise, continues to work with charities across the borough, linking up with Open Door charity under its latest partnership.
Andrew Smith, Managing Partner at Smith and Sons commented: “Open Door Charity is an established local organisation that has received significant recognition for the excellent work it carries out with young people. We are really pleased to be able to make this donation, encouraging the group in their amazing efforts.”
Open Door is a mental health charity based in Birkenhead. Since 2011, the charity has provided free, fast, and effective mental health support to thousands of young people across Merseyside, using a range of innovative and unique programmes that empower people to be mentally well.
Imogen Healing, Fundraising Manager at Open Door Charity commented, “This kind contribution from Smith and Sons will provide Open Door with stability during what is a difficult time for many charities. It will enable us to continue providing an amazing service to our members, during our transition period to our new building, Joy. We are so grateful for their generous support.”
Last year Open Door supported over 1,100 people across a range of programmes including Bazaar, an eight-session programme currently delivered at the Bloom Building that blends elements of CBT, mindfulness and more. For those accessing Bazaar, the team saw an average of 44% reduction in anxiety symptoms and 38% reduction in depression symptoms.
