Three Queens visit Liverpool

Exactly 175 years ago in 1840, a Cunard liner left British waters destined for America. In the same year, Smith and Sons was established in Birkenhead as a Land and Estate Agent.

To mark Cunard's 175th anniversary on 25 May 2015, Liverpool welcomed the Three Queens (Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria). They met for the first time in the River Mersey in an event that made maritime history.

Thousands gathered on the banks of the Mersey in both Liverpool and The Wirral to watch the cruise liners sail in formation and perform a series of manoeuvres on the river. This was paired with a fly over by The Red Arrows and concluded with a spectacular light and firework display. A fantastic event for everyone who witnessed the occasion.

Smith and Sons meanwhile are planning their own exciting event to mark their 175th anniversary and will announce details shortly.

Here's to another 175 years!
